Right after completing her medical school education at Boston University in 1976, Dr. Gail Weingast went on too complete the usual series of internships, residencies and fellowships at hospitals in the Denver area. Finally, she was ready, so Dr. Gail Weingast was a practicing radiologist at several other hospitals in Colorado before moving to New York and then to her current position in Connecticut. Her career path hasn’t always been a straight line; she started with a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish before she switched over to medicine a few years later, but for Dr. Gail Weingast, it’s a fulfilling history.

These days, Dr. Gail Weingast is best known as a fixture in the radiology department at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. She is the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging, but Dr. Gail Weingast has been able to use her position and her talent to transform her radiology department into one of the best anywhere. While Gail Weingast officially became a doctor in 1976, when she earned the right to be called Dr. Gail Weingast, MD, it turns out that completing her medical school studies was only the beginning. Following that, Dr. Weingast did a pediatrics internship from 1976-1977 at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, where she followed that up with a residency in pediatrics over the next two years, a radiology residency for the next three years and a fellowship in ultrasound technology in 1983.

She completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver from 1983 to 1984. After that she practiced at several other hospitals in Denver and the rest of Colorado, as well as a couple New York, until she settled into her current position a highly regarded radiology specialist at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she serves at that facility’s Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging and has been able to lead her department to be the best in the nation.

She currently serves at that facility’s Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging and, over the course of her time there, she has been able to guide her department into its current position as one of the top such facilities in the country.
